This Jemez Pueblo pottery storyteller has been hand coiled and painted by Jemez potter Vernida Toya. It will make a lovely addition to your pottery collection or a unique gift.
Vernida Toya uses both the coil method and pinch method to create her pottery pieces. Storytellers represent the passing down of stories orally through the Pueblo tradition. Vernida is from the Jemez Pueblo and is the daughter of famous potter Judy Toya. Vernida creates storytellers that are very unique to her own sense of style. In keeping with the traditions of those who first taught Vernida her skills, she uses all-natural materials from her Pueblo when making her storytellers.
