This beautiful vase is representative of two people coming together in marriage. The two spouts represent the separate lives of the people being married, which are united by the handle at the top. It is tradition for each person to drink from the spout during the wedding ceremony to bind them together. A perfect gift for the soon-to-be-wed person in your life!
This piece features a hand-etched hummingbird drinking from a turquoise embellished flower on a one-of-a-kind horsehair vase. White clay is shaped, then horse hair is laid over it before it is fired. The horse hair burns into the pottery in the heat of the kiln, giving it this fascinating look. After firing, the design is carved into the finish, cutting away the shades of gray, and black so that the motif stands out in white relief.
