Refund policy
Merchandise
Unless otherwise stated, items from our in-person gift shop or online eShop have a 30-day return policy. Customers who wish to return an item must request a return within 30 days of receiving the item.
To be eligible for a return, the item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, unwashed with tags attached, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
To start a return, or if you have questions about a return, you can contact us at History Colorado eShop Returns. If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.
Damages and issues with merchandise
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged, or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.
If you are shopping in-person at our physical store, please note that we do require guests who break an item to purchase it. All sale and clearance items are sold as is and are final sale.
Exceptions / non-returnable merchandise
Certain types of items cannot be returned, like perishable goods (such as food, flowers, or plants), custom products (such as print-on-demand orders, special orders, or personalized items), and personal care goods (such as beauty products). We also do not accept returns for hazardous materials, flammable liquids, or gasses. Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item.
Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.
Exchanges of merchandise
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.
Refunds
We will notify you whether or not your return was approved once we’ve received and inspected your item(s) to be returned. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method. Please remember it can take up to 10 business days for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund.
Tickets
Tickets for museum admission are non-refundable, but we will happily exchange your tickets for a different date within 90 days of your originally scheduled visit. Please contact us at reservations@state.co.us or 303-866-2396 to exchange the date of your ticket(s).
Tickets for events, programs, and tours are non-refundable unless otherwise stated.
If History Colorado must cancel a program or close the museum on the date of your tickets, you will be notified via email and will be given the option to either receive a full refund or keep your ticket for a rescheduled date (if applicable).
Other Services and Resources
History Colorado memberships and donations, online database subscriptions, object loans, and other services and resources from History Colorado are non-refundable unless otherwise specified. If your order includes reproductions, use permissions, or loans of items from our collection, please view the terms and conditions for those resources.
